Iola Ashby

Iola Lorraine (Harwood) Ashby, 80, of Browning, Montana passed away on May 7, 2024, in Kalispell, Montana. Lorraine was born March 29, 1944, in Fort Yates, ND to Robert E. Harwood Sr. and Iola Mae Barse Harwood. Lorraine grew up in Wahpeton, ND at the Indian school where her parents were employed. During Lorraine's teenage years Robert (Robbie) and Iola relocated their family to Browning, Montana. Lorraine was blessed with 6 children: Rhonda, John, Rayetta, Donell, Lorrie and Leah.

Lorraine was known for her love of a good time and music. She enjoyed playing her guitar and singing. She also enjoyed being with friends and family whether for a game of crib or a camping trip. She worked in customer service for many years and made a lot of friends. She also had a very close relationship with nephews Robbie Harwood, Lil Ray Harwood and niece Brenda Meineke. Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Jones. Rayetta Matt, Donell Neiss, Lorrie (Adam) Wolf, Leah (Shawn) Clairmont her favorite sister Dorothy Mae Guardipee, 24 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her only son John Matt Sr., Four brothers; Robert E. (Deeds) Harwood Jr, Raymond A. (DA) Harwood Sr., Daniel T. (JoAnn) Harwood, and Richard J. (Cups) Harwood Sr., Nephew, Ronald E. Harwood, and nieces, Renee G. (Craig) Wellman, Alberta Mae Harwood, and Cheryl G Walling, her parents Robbie and Iola Harwood, and great granddaughter, Camiah Rain Neiss, as well as many other beloved relatives. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at the Annual Harwood Reunion August 10, 2024, at sister Dorthy Mae's place on Two Medicine. It’s a potluck so bring your favorite dish and story to share. The celebration will start at 2 PM (ish).
