Lawrence Keith DeBoo, lovingly known as Smiley, departed from this world on January 9, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on November 26, 1960, in Browning, MT, Smiley was the cherished son of Louis and Patricia Deboo.
Throughout his life, Smiley embraced a variety of passions and pursuits. After graduating from Valier High School in 1979, he embarked on a career as a dedicated truck driver in the road construction industry. With unwavering commitment, he faithfully served his employers until his well-deserved retirement.
Smiley found solace and fulfillment in various activities that brought him joy. He had a keen interest in native crafts and rock collecting. Often, he could be found peacefully walking the creek, connecting with the beauty of nature. His favorite moments were spent in the company of his beloved family and friends, gathered under his cherished shade tree or around a warm campfire, engaging in heartfelt conversations.
On August 27, 2015, Smiley joined in holy matrimony with his loving wife, Tove DeBoo. Their union was a source of immense happiness and strength for both of them. They shared a deep bond filled with love, understanding, and countless cherished memories.
Smiley's kindness, warmth, and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His charismatic presence lit up every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. He possessed a unique ability to bring laughter and joy to any situation, earning him his beloved nickname, Smiley.
Smiley's wishes were to be cremated. In the summer, a celebration of his well-lived life will be held on Birch Creek, a place of significance to him. Family, friends, and loved ones will gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
Smiley leaves behind fond memories which will forever be cherished by those who survive him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tove DeBoo, who stood by his side through thick and thin and his parent, Louis Deboo. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Wenche Wiik of Norway, sons, Keith DeBoo (Kari) of Frenchtown, MT, Dustin DeBoo of Billings, MT, and John DeBoo (Nell) of Columbus, MT, as well as his daughter, Laura DeBoo of Absarokee, MT, his stepdaughter Maya Wiik of Norway.
In addition, Smiley is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Guest, Denise Newmiller, Mona DeBoo, and Bobbie Sinclair, and his brothers, Chuck Deboo and Alfred (Frosty) Deboo. His nieces and nephews of Norway and his friends in Norway (Smiley is very much loved by all of them).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat DeBoo, his father-in-law Kjell Wiik, his brother, Robert DeBoo, and his uncle, Dick DeBoo. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and relatives.

The loss of Smiley has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. However, his spirit will forever live on through the memories he cultivated and the impact he made in the lives of others.
